Deleting a contact removes the contact record from your database. This article explains what to check before deleting, how to transfer any linked jobs, deals, or TimeTemp placements, and the two ways you can delete a contact.
β Important: Before you delete a contact, make sure you have transferred or removed all linked jobs, deals, and TimeTemp placements to another contact.
π Note:
Deleting a contact also deletes any notes or comments stored on that contact profile.
If you want to retain data but remove duplicates, use the contact merge feature instead of deleting the contact.
Delete a Contact
Follow these steps to prepare and delete a contact.
Go to the company record, then open the Contacts section.
Select the contact you want to delete to open the contact profile.
Review the contact profile for any linked Jobs, Deals, or TimeTemp placements.
If the contact has linked jobs, either delete each job or reassign each job to a different contact in the same company.
If the contact has linked deals or TimeTemp placements, transfer ownership of those records to another contact in the same company.
If needed, create a new contact in the company profile, then assign the jobs, deals, or TimeTemp placements to this new contact.
Confirm that the original contact no longer has any jobs, deals, or TimeTemp placements assigned.
Option 1: Delete from the Contact Profile
Open the contact profile you want to delete.
Click Actions, then click Delete.
Confirm the deletion when prompted.
Option 2: Delete from the Contacts List or Stage
Go to the contacts list or the relevant contact pipeline stage (chevron) view.
Tick the checkbox next to the contact you want to delete.
Open the actions list, then click Delete.
Confirm the deletion when prompted.
Troubleshoot Issues When Deleting a Contact
If you see a message that the contact cannot be deleted because of linked jobs, deals, or TimeTemp placements, transfer or delete those records as described above, then try deleting the contact again.
If a contact you deleted still appears in the company record, refresh the page, then check whether the contact is still active or has already been removed.
If the contact still appears or you continue to receive an error, try deleting again after confirming that all linked jobs, deals, and TimeTemp placements have been reassigned or removed.
If issues persist, capture the error details (including any error messages and screenshots), then contact Support for further assistance.
π‘ Best Practices
Always reassign jobs, deals, and TimeTemp placements to another contact before deleting to avoid losing ownership information.
Use contact merge instead of deletion when you want to retain data but remove duplicate contacts under the same company.
Review notes and comments on the contact profile before deleting to ensure you no longer need that information.
π€ FAQs
Q1: Can I mass delete or bulk delete contacts?
Answer: No, there is currently no option to delete contacts in bulk. You must delete each contact individually.
Q2: What happens to notes and comments when I delete a contact?
Answer: Any notes or comments stored against the contact profile are deleted along with the contact and cannot be recovered from that profile.
Q3: Why canβt I delete a contact due to system restrictions or associations?
Answer: The contact may still be linked to jobs, deals, or TimeTemp placements. Transfer or delete those linked records first, then try deleting the contact again.
Q4: Why does a contact I deleted still appear in the company record?
Answer: The contact may not have been fully removed if there were still linked records, or the page may not have refreshed. Refresh the company record, verify that all jobs, deals, and TimeTemp placements have been reassigned or removed, then try deleting the contact again. If the contact still appears, contact Support with details and screenshots.
