Effective financial reporting is vital for any organization aiming to maintain transparency and accuracy in its operations. In the context of recruitment, it's crucial to have a clear understanding of how to report on different levels such as consultant fees, team fees, division fees, and branch fees.

  • The SSBI Profit Split Views offer a comprehensive way to do this by providing different perspectives based on booked and actual fees.

⭕ Placement Profit Split View and Pay and Bill Profit Split View.

Before delving into the specifics of reporting, it’s important to understand the views available within the Profit Split framework: Placement Profit Split View and Pay and Bill Profit Split View.

  • Placement Profit Split View: This view focuses on booked fees. It reports on the fees as they were originally booked, regardless of whether those fees have been invoiced. Use this view when you need to report on the revenue generated from placements.

  • Pay and Bill Profit Split View: This view, on the other hand, reflects the actual fees, making it ideal for tracking the real financial outcome of the placements. This is the view to choose when you need to report on the fees that have actually been invoiced.

⭕ Reporting on Revenue.

When reporting on revenue, there are two main approaches you can take:

  • Using either Team, Branch, or Division Fees, applying the Sum Function. These are aggregate levels that provide insight into the overall performance of specific groups, as well as the performance of the consultants within the larger group. This method is useful when you want to see how much a consultant has contributed to a specific group.

  • Using the Consultant Amount Field. If you choose this approach, you need to apply the Avg function. Please note that you’ll still be adding together the fees per each consultant, so the report will output the total fees generated by each consultant in the filtered time period. With this approach, however, you won’t be able to dig deeper into the figures per branch, team, or division.

📌 Important Consideration: Calculation of Fees Across Different Levels

One critical aspect to keep in mind when using the Profit Split Views is that calculations of Team, Branch, and Division fees cannot be performed in the same visual, including pivot tables. This is because each level represents a different aggregation of data, and combining them in a single visual would lead to inaccuracies or conflicting data representations.

  • For example, if you are creating a report in a pivot table, you cannot simultaneously calculate and display team fees alongside branch or division fees. Each fee level must be reported on a separate visual to ensure clarity and accuracy.

⭕ Conclusion

The Profit Split Views offer a powerful and flexible way to report on consultant fees at various levels, from individual consultants to entire groups.

By understanding the difference between Placement Profit Split View and Pay and Bill Profit Split View, and by selecting the appropriate fields and functions, you can generate accurate and meaningful reports tailored to your specific needs.

  • Just remember to separate calculations across different levels—Team, Branch, and Division—to maintain the integrity of your data.
