This article explains what to do if you see an authentication failed error when connecting, so you can get your credentials verified and reconnect quickly.
â ď¸ Important: API keys, consumer usernames, and passwords are all case sensitive. Even correct-looking credentials will fail if the case does not match exactly.
Troubleshoot an Authentication Failed Error
If you see the message "Authentication failed. Please check your credentials!", follow the steps below.
Collect your API key from FT360 Team, or retrieve it from your saved file if you already have one.
Check that your API key and consumer username are entered correctly, remembering that both are case-sensitive.
If the error continues, your password may be incorrect and will need to be reset. See changing your password or resetting a user password for instructions.
Once your credentials are confirmed or reset, click Connect.
Best Practices
Double-check that your API key, consumer username, and password all match exactly, including capitalisation.
Reset your password directly in FT rather than guessing, if credentials repeatedly fail.
Keep your API key stored securely so you can retrieve it quickly if reconnection is needed.
