💡Must-know
This content is a summarized explanation based on general knowledge of Twilio's messaging behavior.
📂 For more details, please refer to this Article
1. Rate Limits Exist Per Phone Number
Twilio limits how fast messages can be sent from a single phone number.
For US/Canada long codes (10-digit numbers), the typical rate is 1 message per second.
If you try to send large messages all at once from one number, many will be queued or dropped depending on the setup.
2. Messages Enter a Queue
When you send messages faster than allowed, they enter a message queue.
This queue can overflow, and excess messages may fail if not sent in time.
Twilio does not guarantee delivery of all queued messages, especially under high load.
3. You Can Use Messaging Services or Multiple Numbers
Using a Messaging Service with multiple sender numbers lets Twilio distribute the sending load.
This avoids rate-limiting issues tied to a single number.
4. Monitoring Message Delivery
You should monitor message status callbacks or check logs in the Twilio Console to see error codes.
This can confirm if failures are due to rate limits or other causes.
If you encounter any issue related to Twilio in Vincere please reach out to the Twilio Support Team, as Twillio is a third-party app and our system relies on their API for SMS transmission.
